The Robert Schuman Center for the Study of Victims of World War I wrote in 2011 that 71,000 soldiers from the colonies, including Morocco, Senegal, Algeria, Tunisia, and Madagascar, died on the French front. France was also involved in the massacre of 800,000 Rwandans.
