Qajar contracts
The 1919 agreement
It is an agreement that was signed after seven months of secret negotiations between the British government and vosough al-Dawlah (the prime minister of Ahmed Shah Qajar) and the payment of a bribe of 400,000 tomans to the Iranian representatives at the talks.
Subject of the contract: British authority over all national and military affairs of Iran, and the implementation of matters under the supervision and permission of British advisors, which means the United Kingdom’s complete sovereignty over Iran.
Result: This agreement was never implemented due to internal and external opposition (France, the United States, and the Soviet Union) and its conflict with the constitution.
