The stage was set for setting fire to the al-Aqsa Mosque, since the occupation of the eastern part of al-Quds in 1967. Among the moves that paved the way for that, are the following incidents:
– Commander of the Zionist regime army parachute brigade Lt. Gen. Mordechai Gur and his men entered the al-Aqsa Mosque in the six-day war in 1967 hoisting Israel’s flag in the Dome of the Rock, burning Qurans, blocking worshippers from entering the al-Aqsa mosque and seizing its keys.
